Review of applications begins January 1
Students seeking admission to a master's program should request an information packet from the Department of Dance via email (email to Office Coordinator: Marian Moser).
How to apply:
Submit an UO Online Application for Graduate Admission and $50 (U.S.) non-refundable application fee to the Graduate School. If you are unable to access the online admission application, please contact the Graduate Coordinator for Dance, Christian Cherry for assistance.
The applicant should prepare the following materials for the online application:
• résumé or vitae upload (PDF)
• statement of purpose upload (PDF)
• a sample of scholarly writing upload (PDF)
• 3 letters of recommendation requests
• unofficial transcripts upload
A video of choreography and/or performance in 1/2" VHS or DVD (NTSC) should be sent directly to the Department:

Application for enrollment is open to anyone who has been graduated from an accredited college or university and has a 3.00 cumulative undergraduate GPA. A campus visit and audition interview process are also required. These should be arranged with Christian Cherry, Graduate Coordinator (email or phone (541) 346-5951). Video submissionin lieu of a visit is possible in exceptional cases.
Adequate undergraduate preparation in dance theory and technique is required for admission to graduate programs in dance. Applicants with undergraduate deficiencies may be admitted as postbaccalaureate students until the necessary courses are completed .
Deficiencies may be made up by (1) passing proficiency examinations provided by the department, (2) presenting evidence of acceptable practical professional experience, or (3) demonstrating ability on videotape or in person for faculty review. All deficiencies should be corrected at the first opportunity after entering the program.
Online Application requires the use of Firefox, Netscape® v. 4.06, or Internet Explorer v.4.0 or greater, that supports JavaScript, Cookies, and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Mac users require Firefox or Internet Explorer v. 4.51 or greater.
International students whose native language is not English must earn scores of at least 575 (paper-based), 233 (computer-based), or 88 (internet-based) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). In addition, the University is now accepting the International English Testing System (IELTS) assessment score as an alternative to TOEFL. The minimum IELTS score is 7.0. A student with a GPA below 3.00 may be admitted upon review of credentials. Students admitted to the graduate program must audition for placement in technique classes. Placement classes are held each spring term and during Week of Welcome before fall t erm. Dates of these auditions are available from the department office.
