News Update
Last year UO-RDC was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with two guest artists. Gabriel Masson and UO distinguished alum Tiffany Mills each spent a week in residency and set works on the company for our tour.
This year’s tour will include a work set on the UO-RDC Company by UO distinguish alum Dianne Markham. Diane will be in residence with UO-RDC and The UO Dance Department from January 27th February 4th, 2007.
Dianne Markham received a BA in Contemporary Dance from the University of Oregon. She performed nationally and internationally with the Murray Louis Dance Company and Nureyev and Friends. She trained with Honya Holm, Alwin Nikolais, Murray Louis, Phyllis Lamhut, Zena Rommett, Alfred Corvino and Finis Jhung. Her choreography has been performed by national and international companies at such venues including the Kennedy Center, the First Helsinki International Ballet Competition, and PBS for a documentary based on the choreographic process for “Silent Places/The Looking Glass”. Recently she has been a quest teacher/choreographer at the Mid-Pacific Performing Arts High School in Hawaii, the Distinguished alumna Commencement speaker at the University of Oregon, received the Board of Govenors Excellence in Teaching Award and a principal teacher at the Nikolais/Louis Legacy workshop in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ms. Markham has been teaching at NCSA since 1980, was assistant dean for ten years, and has choreographed more then 37 original works plus lecture demonstrations for the school.
We are thrilled to be working with Dianne this season and look forward to an exciting residency and the opportunity to tour a work of hers.
